I’ve been shifting a copy of last Autum’s Landscape Design & Garden – Western Cape magazine around my desk from one place to another not quite letting it out of my sights least it slip my mind (now if you know my office – more so my desks, you will appreciate what a challenge this can be considering the amount of stuff that occupies this space at any given time!!) as in there, was my first introduction to Babelonstoren and ever since spotting the cover way back then, I just knew I had to go and check out this incredible place myself.
Needless to say I’ve been watching their popularity grow and more recently seen the magic that they create for weddings – be still my beating heart, brides take note, if you are looking for a completely grounded, magical wedding venue, this one gets my thumbs up all round! My opportunity for a visit came up this week and I indulged myself by donning my Wellies & a winter jacket (and of course my camera which I just couldn’t resist taking with) and joined in on a guided tour and I’m so glad I did, Ernst was so informative, so passionate about the farm and well, if I must be honest I found myself digging in my heels feeling very reluctant to leave at the end.
I will head back, that much I know for sure. If not sooner, then certainly again in Spring to see it in bloom and than again in Summer to see it in full colour and to all of you out there with green fingers – GO you owe it to yourself to see such inspiration and even if you don’t, just go for a visit anyways and get a fix for your soul or simply enjoy a good walk, take in all the fresh air, taste some delights plucked straight from the garden or better yet a light lunch in the Greenhouse or a meal like no other @ Babel or book in and stay a wee while longer in the Hotel but remember, be sure to partake in some retail therapy on your way out – goodness you can even book a bread making session whilst you are at it. Either way, you wont regret it!
Question is now how to go about creating a mini version of all that magic here at home and where can I create my camomile carpet?? Ernst!!!
