Chanette & Hardus
So what do you do when the weather doesn’t play ball on your wedding day?
Well first and foremost you let it go…. what will be will be and that you cannot change. Ours is not called the Cape of Storms for nothing and we certainly are no strangers to experiencing multiple seasons in one day!
So weather watch in the days before and mentally prepare for whats to come.
The weather man isn’t always right though and when that’s the case be sure to chat to your planner, photographer and vendors and trust their recommendations to settling on the plan B if its needed to keep everyone happy – including your guests,
& then just embrace it!
We awoke to one of those crazy weather days that pushed the predictions of every weather man the morning of Chanette & Hardus’s St Helena Bay wedding. The day before was the epitome of perfect West Coast day and surprise surprise so was the day that followed but on their wedding day the wind howled stronger than an any wedding photographer would like.
Thankfully the Sea Trader is cleaverly positioned in a way that the South Easter doesn’t affect it too much, so we were able to proceed with their outdoor ceremony. The wind however progressively heightened through the afternoon.
Wind wind glorious wind
Chanette & Hardus had come from Pretoria for a seaside wedding with their hearts set on a beach shoot, so this 45km/hr wind gusting to 70km seemed somewhat unfair BUT like the incredible couple they are they wholly trusted us to do our thing and embraced the wind in all its glory and soldiered on with their shoot and I am so glad that they did . I was especially too for the final shot that had me doing my happy dance – xx on video wanted to grab one quick shot at a red garage door as we were leaving the harbour. Much to my thrill I as still keeping a watchful eye from the sidelines and just at that moment the wind went beserk and taking them by surprise all kinds of magic happened and I landed my favourite series of shots of the day…. quite a couple for that matter. Utterly unique and full of fun. Now these might not be considered perfect wedding shots BUT what they are for me were magic moments & more inoprtantingly the epitome of who these two are. Wholly prepared to soldier the storm and still find the place to smile and laugh and take it all in together, looking out for eachother all the way!

Thank you so much or eveything. You are such a beautiful person inside and out. We had so much fun on our wedding. Even if the wind almost blew us away.
